Healthy Paws Pet Insurance Editorial Policy
Healthy Paws pet insurance aims to provide our customers and other pet parents with accurate, unbiased, and helpful information, whether it be through our ecommerce website or our blog for pet parents.
How We Create Our Content
- We produce informational webpages and blog posts both for our existing customers and for people who have pets and may be considering pet insurance.
- On our ecommerce site, our goal is to educate pet parents about the benefits of pet insurance, and whether or not Healthy Paws is the right choice for them. The website is updated regularly to improve content and usability. We do extensive testing with users before publishing new content or changes to functionality.
- On our blog, we aim to educate dog and cat parents on a wide variety of topics related to pet parenthood: health and safety, behavior and training, food and treats, trends and news, and pet insurance case studies.
- All the content on the website and blog are created by an internal content team of experienced writers and pet parents, and a handful of external consultants with pet expertise, such as veterinarians and dog trainers.
Who Reviews or Approves Content
The blog writers review each other's work for accuracy and grammar. If the post is about a pet medical condition, we may also ask a member of our customer care team, many of whom have backgrounds as veterinary technicians, to review a blog post before it is published. If a proposed blog post is about a pet parent and their pet, we first secure their written permission and ask them to review the post before publishing.
Editorial Standards
- All content is original and not published elsewhere.
- The blog writers periodically update older blog posts if there is new information. If a reader alerts us to a mistake or incorrect information, we act quickly to correct it.
- We may remove older posts if they contain information that is too outdated to be relevant.
- To maintain high editorial standards, we generally do not accept outside written content or affiliate placements.
- Though some of our blog posts mention products by name and contain a link to the product page, this is based on the writer's research to provide recommendations for items that we think are high-quality and useful to pet parents. We do not receive payment for links or mentions.
- Each blog post has a byline indicating who wrote the post and whether they are a staff member or a consulting professional. The byline links to a bio with more information about the author.
- Staff writers are hired for their writing, editing and research skills. They generally come from journalism or communications backgrounds. They are also pet parents who love animals.
- We follow a brand stylebook to be consistent in our blog posts. We generally follow Associated Press style with a few exceptions. We avoid using language that is too technical or hard for the typical reader to understand. Our communications regarding pet insurance and the Healthy Paws plan are compliant with insurance related laws in each state.
Our Authors and Experts
For blog posts that require some professional expertise, we ask consulting veterinarians and dog trainers to review the content and make any corrections or additions they believe are necessary. All of our consulting experts carry professional credentials, have many years of experience in their fields, and are respected by their peers.
